I agree with you. However, I wonder if Dr. Jernigan would have had the 
same take. Might he not have said something on the order of: "The 
Governor is competing with the world as it is, not as he might have 
been.". So while I agree that I suspect that the Governor would find it 
easier with some alternative techniques in his arsenal, he apparently is 
functioning well enough to hold the highest state office in New York 
which ain't bad.

  I think this article is so typical! Just think what Governor Patterson 
would be able to do if were able to read Braille, and travel more 
independently?
