Hey Noel,
What did you cook for forty people? Have you done that since?

Hi, listers.
I haven't gotten down to Kevin's original message but I am understanding
from the replies that he broke his wrist while at the OTC. I broke my right
wrist when I was a student at the Louisiana Center for the Blind.
I was on a travel route, walking in high grass, and lifted my cane up
because it kept getting caught in the grass, and next thing I knew, I was
stepping off a retaining wall that was five feet up from a sidewalk.
It was completely my fault and it taught me a great lesson about not
assuming what is in front of me.
However, the next day, I was back in my classes, despite the fact that I
could not use my dominant hand. I did my travel routes with my left hand
awkwardly caning way. I prepared my meal for 40. It did slow my Braille
reading speed down, but I still did my Braille class too.

I also wonder: is it your cane hand that's kaput or the other one? If the
latter, there's absolutely no reason why you can't continue your program.
BTW, it sounds as though you and the other party to the collision weren't
using your canes, eh? I should think you'd have had a fencing match before a
bout of bumper-cars! (grin)

Frankly I don't think it's too late. Put out the call for support and
insist on a meeting.
By the way, you did not make it clear just how long you've been sent home
for? Until your wrist heals? Until a week after the surgery?
And just where was your VR Counselor? Who is your VR Counselor?
