[nfbwatlk] Study Materials for Our Spring Meeting

Greetings, Fellow Federationists.

As promised, I'm attaching computer-accessible versions of the two
articles I'd like people to read as a catalyst to discussion during our
upcoming meeting in Olympia. Both of these items may be procured from
NFB's Independence Market in print and alternative formats. One is
"Blindness: Discrimination, Hostility and Progress"; the other is
"Blindness: the Triple Revolution". Both were written by Dr. Jernigan.
The "Triple Revolution" article has a "scano" that messes up one line
but you can get the general idea or flavor of the material in that line
by context.

Additionally, I would like everyone to read the first
nonconvention-related article in the April edition of the Braille
Monitor. It is a discussion by Jim Omvig, Shawn Mayo and Dr. Maurer
concerning whether or not blindness can be truly reduced to a physical
nuisance or, as Shawn more strongly put it, a "nonfactor". I have my own
opinion but will save it for the conference. The link is:

Happy reading!
