Subject: [nfbwatlk] Minutes Saturday April 5th 2008 Inland Empire
Chapternfbw

The meeting of the Inland Empire Chapter of the nfbw was called to order
at 12:00 Pm by Maria Bradford, President. The reading of the previous
month's minutes and the Treasurer's report were postponed, due to Judy
and John Croys absence. (This is General Conference weekend) .
The membership also sent greetings and good wishes to Jeanne
Whipple, just returned from another stay in the hospital. Dolores
thanked us for the card she received while recovering from recent back
surgery.
During lunch, Cody told us he has been hired at the new Lighthouse for
the Blind. Until the Lighthouse opens, Cody will have a temporary
position as a sign-holder.
Maria and Susan were also hired at the Lighthouse, along with Monica
Stugelmeyer. Everyone is waiting for work to begin in July or August.
Cody mentioned that the trainer from Guiding Eyes For the Blind visited
his home. The trainer was pleased with the way Cody and Tucker work
together.Lark brought us more information about her volunteer activities
at Lewis and Clark High School. She volunteers at a Ronald McDonald
house. she is planning to attend the track meet at the Washington State
School for the Blind, May 22nd. Lark also obtained more Kernel books to
give to the public.
Susan reminded us that the dates for our upcoming bake sale are May
10th, and June 21st at the Wal-Mart on Welsley.
Dolores Keyser told us Kelly Croft is leaving her Rehabilitation
teaching position at Lilac Services for the Blind to work at the
Veterans Hospital. We were very sorry to hear that another teacher is
leaving, although it is an opportunity for Kelly. She will be dearly
missed.
The Presidential release was read for March, 2008. We were pleased to
hear from President Maurer. He will join us in Olympia, during the
Spring Conference. April 26-27. We are tempting to organize a bus trip.
The final business was a short presentation regarding the budget for the
National Library Service. As President Maurer stated, there is an
emergency facing the Library system. More than nineteen million dollars
is needed, just to provide an upgrade to the digital system, and only
twelve million dollars is appropriated at this time. We must keep our
Senators and representative informed.
Before Adjournment, copies of the speeches to study for the upcoming
conference were handed out. Blindness The Triple Revolution, and
Discrimination Hostility and Progress
Note: Gloria Whipple will submit the minutes for the next meeting.

Respectfully Submitted
Maria Bradford
President
Inland Empire Chapter nfbw.
