Nominate someone special for JoLeta Reynolds Award!
It's now time to consider nominees for the 3rd Annual JoLeta Reynolds
Service to Special Education Award. Winners will be announced at, and
receive complimentary registration to, the 29th National Institute on
Legal Issues of Educating Individuals with Disabilities(r) in Charlotte,
N.C.
The award is presented to one or more individuals who demonstrate
dedication, excellence and integrity in carrying out the demanding and
rewarding responsibilities of serving special needs children and their
families or who support those who serve this exceptional population.
The award is named in honor of JoLeta Reynolds, senior policy advisor
under the assistant secretary of education. Dr. Reynolds played a key
role in the 1997 IDEA reauthorization and helped develop the law's
implementing regulations. She also was involved in the 2004 IDEA
reauthorization.
A longtime supporter and adviser to LRP's National Institute, Dr.
Reynolds is a friend and adviser to hundreds of special educators and
administrators throughout the country.
Who is eligible?
Employees of federal, state and local educational agencies who have had
an impact on the quality of special education services through
leadership, instruction, special projects, innovation, management,
program design or improvement.
What must nominations include?
Each entry must include the name, address and contact information of the
nominator, plus the full name, title, organization, and contact
information of the nominee. Each entry must also address each area
listed on the nomination form. Only one nominee per entry is permitted.
