My mother has the same problem, but it is a lot worse. She was supposed to  
have surgery last October, but she keeps putting it off. If it is any  
consolation  or comfort to you, I've had 20 surgeries in my lifetime and I  got scared 
before every one of them. I will keep you in my prayers and good luck  to you.
