Fellow Federationists and Friends:

It is with a heavy heart that I announce that Gary Mackenstadt's mother 
passed away early this morning. She had been in increasingly ill-health 
for some time. Now her struggle is over.

On behalf of the National Federation of the Blind of Washington, I 
express my deepest sympathy to Gary, Denise (his wife), Eric and Amanda 
(his children) and to Gary's father. Please keep the mackenstadt family 
in your thoughts and, if you are so inclined, your prayers.

Obviously, Gary will not be at the national convention; it will be the 
first he's missed in over thirty years. But Gary's thoughts and duty lie 
elsewhere.

Again, I express my condolences.
