Agency Profile:  The mission of the Washington State School for the
Blind is to provide specialized quality educational services to visually
impaired/blind youth ages birth-21 within the state of Washington.  Our
purpose is to serve as a statewide demonstration and resource center and
provide direct/indirect services to students both on campus and in the
children's local communities. Each employee plays a critical role for
the school and our students.  We value our employees and continuously
challenge them to improve the way we provide service to our students and
the community. 

 

Position Profile:  The Washington State School for the Blind has a
Temporary Communications Consultant 1 position open.  The duration of
employment is to begin June 25, 2007 and ends August 31, 2007 up to but
not to exceed 280 hours. Hours are flexible and dependent upon the
current workload. The successful candidates will have the following
principal responsibilities:  Under the direction of the Braille Access
Center and Instructional Resource Center Manager, this employee will
fill in as needed for the Communication Consultant 1 duties, including
but not limited to...

 

*	Proofreading of various Braille text books, documentation,
brochures, publicity releases, and various other materials.

 

Desired Qualifications

*	Ability to quickly read & correct Literary, Textbook and Nemeth
Braille
*	Ability to use a computer to write proofreader reports

 

Requirement of the position

*	3 years experience proofreading Braille materials
*	Must be a High School graduate

 

Compensation:  $13.90 per hour

 

Note: This position is covered by a union shop provision. Therefore, as
a condition of employment, candidates who are appointed are required to
become members of the WFSE, or arrange to pay to that union a fee
equivalent to its regular monthly dues. The union shop provision shall
be effective on the first day of the month following the employee's
initial 30 days in this classification.
