Kay:
If you remain in touch with Vicki, please convey to her our supportive
thoughts. Renee and I attended her wedding to Andrew some years ago. I
am sorry to hear about this development. Thanks for sharing our best
regards with Vicki during this tough time. I've never heard of this
Alaskan custom, and while Vicki is no doubt graciously accepting his
decision, separation from the one you love in anticipation of his
passing must be incredibly hard. Perhaps this is just my cultural bias,
but I can't imagine that such a decision could be easily agreed.
With Kind Regards,
Dan Frye

It is very close to Andrew's time of passing. He has chosen, as is the
custom of his heritage, to return to Alaska. The custom of his people
is that the man goes off to die with his family caring for him at the
time of passing. He will be leaving tomorrow with his brother and
sister-in-law. Vicki will remain here in Seattle. She respects and
understands his decision to return to the remote island that he is from.
They ask for your payers and good thoughts as they go through this
difficult time. She has a good support system in place to help her
through some of the complications, but very much wants your prayers.
She does not know how long before she able to return to the NFB
meetings, but is looking forward to her return.
For those of you who did not know Andrew has brain cancer and the
radiation does not seem to have helped. He had a neice who passed away
not to long ago from the same thing.
