Fellow Federationists:
The message below and attachments are from Jerry Lazarus and concern Meet
the Blind Month activities. If your chapter is planning some activities for
Meet the Blind Month, please post them to the NFB web site as Mr. Lazarus
asks. Please post a message about them to this list also. The Northwest
Chapter has made a good start in this regard. Kudos to the Northwest
Chapter; it sets an example for us all to emulate.

ASAP
Good Afternoon All,
Our public relations department has crafted a Meet the Blind
Month press release template for your use to help publicize upcoming
activities. Download and change the information as needed to forward to
media sources in your area. With sufficient notice, newspapers, radio, even
television may help get the word out to your community about upcoming
events. Should you have any questions, require some assistance in
expressing the nature of your event, or need suggestions on distributing the
press release, please contact John Paré at extension 2371 or Jessica Freeh
at extension 2348.
Please be aware that we are still taking requests for Meet the
Blind Month materials and adding information to our Web site on upcoming
events your chapters and affiliates have planned. Some of you may have some
excess materials left over from last year that will be used for the events.
If your chapters are not in need of additional materials for this year's
events, we still need to hear from you or from your Meet the Blind Month
planners so that the information on your affiliate's events are listed on
our Web site. Please check the following link to see if all your scheduled
events are listed. If not, please send us details on the events, either
using the registration form, or the online registration form whichever is
easier. We can also take the information by phone.

Meet the Blind Month materials will be shipped via free matter, if possible.
Should your upcoming events require a speedier means of shipment, shipping
costs will be the responsibility of the chapter.

During your events, please take some photographs, if possible, and forward
them electronically to jlazarus at nfb.org or mail them to my attention at the
National Center in Baltimore. Be sure to provide the date, location, and
names of anyone in the photographs that you know. We will use some of the
photographs in the December Braille Monitor article about Meet the Blind
Month.
Finally, if you have specific questions or would like to brainstorm about
planning a Meet the Blind Month activity, contact me by phone at
410-659-9314, extension 2297, or by email at jlazarus at nfb.org.
Best regards,
Jerry
