National Federation of the Blind Consulted in Making of Television Program

Several months ago, a camera crew from the ABC television show "Extreme 
Makeover: Home Edition" visited the National Center for the Blind in 
Baltimore. The program features the construction of new homes for 
families whom its producers deem deserving of such assistance. The 
producers of the program planned to build a new home for a New Jersey 
family with blind children, and they quickly realized that in order to 
make the project a success, they would need to consult the experts in 
the organized blind movement. In addition to visiting our national 
headquarters, the show staff worked extensively with leaders of the 
National Federation of the Blind of New Jersey, especially its 
president, Joe Ruffalo.

The resulting program will air on Sunday, September 17, from 7:00-9:00 
P.M. on most ABC stations; check your local listings to be sure of the 
time and channel in your area. Please be sure to tune in and tell your 
family, friends, and fellow Federationists about the program.
