Good letter! Then the library would not have tomove to Olympia. It will be
interesting to see what the mayor does.

> Greetings, fellow listers!
>
> Some ten days ago, Sam Reed, Secretary of State, sent a letter to Mayor
> Nickels of Seattle, asking that an agreement be reached with the city of
> Seattle to transfer ownership of the building now housing the Washington
> Talking Book and Braille Library to the Secretary of State as part of the
> transition project to transfer WTBBL operation to the State Library. The
> National Federation of the Blind of Washington favors such a transfer as
> we
> believe it to have been the intent of the legislature when remodeling of
> the
> building was funded in 1993 that the building was to house or benefit
> WTBBL.
> It is our understanding that Seattle contends that it should retain
> ownership of the building. To date, no response has been received from the
> Mayor's Office. If a response is not forthcoming in the near future, we
> shall have to make our views known to the Mayor.

> The letter is attached.
