Carl, I agree with you about Rich. Hopefully, he stays in Florida. By the way, Rick Monday is a good announcer for the Dodgers. Drysdale was good. Jerry Coleman with the Padres is terrible, but he is in the Hall of Fame, and it wasn't for his playing career.

Subject: Re: [nfbwatlk] Ron Fairly
with the exception that Ron loved to beat a dead horse, I agree with you
Gary. Especially when Ron did the play by play.
And you're correct. He was a standout player. Not many ball players go
over 20 years in the Majors.
Al mentioned the broadcasting of Ron Santo, a Seattle boy and a top flight
third baseman for the Cubs, but not that hot of an announcer. I can't
comment, since I've not listened to him, but I do think of several other
examples.
As much as I loved Dave Henderson as a player, he is pretty thin as a color
commentator. And worse than Dave was Ken Griffy Senior. When he was doing
the color commentary I had a picture of Bill Cosby clowning around. It was
as if he was just in the broadcasting booth to get a good seat for the game.
My vote for the two worst announcers go to Chip Kerry and Rich Walsh. I'm
not sure if I got Rich's name correct, but then he seldom got the game
straight either.
