Subject: In-Depth ADA Transportation Training: July 11 - 13 in Las Vegas
Dear disability advocates and other ADA transportation stakeholders,
The Disability Rights Education and Defense Fund (DREDF) wants to bring
to your attention that the Southwest ADA & IT Center (DLRP), in
collaboration with the Great Lakes and the Pacific ADA & IT Centers, are
sponsoring a comprehensive three-day ADA Transportation Training which
will be provided by DREDF on July 11 - 13, 2006 in Las Vegas. The
trainers will be myself and Russell Thatcher, Senior Transportation
Planner with TranSystems Corp. The training is targeted primarily at the
disability community and disability advocates.
As spaces will be limited, anyone interested is encouraged to register
promptly.
If this training program is not appropriate for you, please forward this
notice to those who you think may be interested. We hope you can help us
reach ADA transportation advocates in your region of the country, or who
we may not know to contact.
As the field of ADA transportation has developed, there is now a
considerable body of knowledge beyond the DOT ADA regulation that is
very useful for ADA transportation stakeholders to know. It will be an
important aspect of the training to convey not only the ADA's
requirements but also the court decisions, policy guidance, best
practices, and other developments that will provide full insight into
the ADA transportation field.
Registration and other information about the training can be found at
http://www.dlrp.org/html/Training/upcoming.html#training or by calling
713/520-0232 and asking for Maria at x118.
The three ADA and IT Centers that are sponsoring the training
(Southwest, Great Lakes, and Pacific) are currently putting registrants
outside those regions on a waiting list for a few more weeks. People
from outside those regions are still encouraged to register and many
will, most likely, be accepted.
