"They"? Is it not "we"? And, as I've said elsewhere, we've put about a
million anda half dollars into the Reader so far. We've got to balance the
prospect of making our money back (or something approximating it) or, at
least, making enough money back to keep going, with a judgment call as to
whether sufficient sales at a "low" price would bring in enough to recoup
the hardware investment and, more importantly, the software development
costs or whether we have to keep the cost relatively high to make any
economic sense. Believe me, we want this technology out there. But we have
an obligation to our membership not to go broke in the process!

blind people to obtain a better return on their investment.  I think the
cost will remain around $3500, but they will improve the quality of the
reader.
