Hi Kevan,

I am attaching information about a summer workshop for people who may be
interest in owning their own piano service business. The workshop tuition
fees are fully funded by a Gibney grant, so the only out of pocket expenses
are transpiration, lodging and meals. If you know of anyone or any group
that may be interested in attending or promoting our workshop, please pass
along this message and attachments. It's a great opportunity for blind
entrepreneurs to learn about a business that can net over $50,000 per year.
Thanks for your help and be sure to look up Don Mitchell at the NFB in
Dallas.

To everyone on this distribution list,

First, I send a big thank you to Kevan for his enthusiastic response. It's
nice to hear encouraging words. I agree there seems to be good opportunities
for collaboration. The possibility of a CO Center program that helps our
students build positive self-mage, communication skills, daily living skills
and O & M skills is very exciting. Don Mitchell, our Director of
Instruction, and I have discussed the possibilities of such a program either
before, after our training or maybe even during the two summer months
between our first and second years. We do an excellent job of preparing the
student with the technical and business needed for success, but some of our
students would definitely benefit from the type of program envisioned. Don
Mitchell plans to contact Julie Deden at the NFB convention or before to
discuss possibilities.

Kevan, best of luck with BLAST '06! Your organization is providing a
valuable service to blind entrepreneurs. Keep up the good work. Len

I'm thrilled that you found our merchant website and called me as a result.
I believe there may be possibilities of some synergy between the Colorado
Center for the blind, the National Federation of the Blind and your need for
competent students who are blind and wish to pursue a vocationally based
piano tuning business development career. For example, what if the Colorado
Center for the Blind were to provide a training and adjustment to blindness,
independence training program to folks who may wish to attend your school,
but do not yet have the positive self image, a real understanding of where
blindness fits in their life, good communication skills, daily living
skills, ability to travel independently in order to tune pianos, etc?

1. in the course of career exploration, the Colorado School for the Blind
might want to ensure that their customers are fully aware of the
possibilities which do exist for a blind person with the right attitude,
orientation and talent. I think a conversation is definitely warranted.
I'll be happy to help in any way I can. I remember tuning pianos in junior
high and high school. Some blind people put down piano tuning, engine
repair, light manufacturing, teaching the blind and the vending program.
Personally, I believe that in this competitive economy, we ought to
encourage blind people to pursue whatever vocation might help to make them
successful and happy. I can absolutely see where a piano tuning business
could be a part of that.

Hi Kevan,

I really enjoyed speaking with you today. Thanks for the enthusiastic
response and great suggestions to build enrollment in our school. I
appreciate your willingness to pass along my name to your NFB contacts and I
will be contacting them later today or early next week.

Piano technology offers a wonderful opportunity for blind and visually
impaired people to become entrepreneurs. Our program offers all the
technical and business training a person needs to be successful. The program
even includes, on-the-job training so the new business person knows what is
needed for success. Many of our graduates are getting ready to retire from
their successful businesses and would prefer to have another blind person
take over. We offer workshops to allow a prospective student to test their
interest and ability in the field of piano technology, which includes both
tuning and repair skills. It's an excellent opportunity to earn $50 - $100
thousand a year depending on a person's initiative. Please take time to
visit our website: http://pianotuningschool.org
<http://pianotuningschool.org/> . I'd appreciate any feedback on how to
make it more effective.

Thank again, Kevan. I look forward to meeting you someday, until then, take
care

Best regards,

Len
