Subject: National Advocacy Seminar Reminder

Affiliate Presidents:

This is to remind you that an Advocacy Skills Seminar will be presented
at the NFB National Convention in Dallas this July. The seminar is
scheduled to occur on Wednesday, July 5th from 7:00-10:00 PM in the
Governor's Lecture Hall, Tower Lobby, in the headquarters hotel. Those
attending will enjoy an opportunity to acquire or enhance their skills
of advocacy which may be used on behalf of blind people needing our
support and assistance. These skills, in fact, will be useful in making
audience participants better advocates in general.

I have tried to develop an agenda that is responsive to the identified
priorities of grassroots members who completed the content survey for
this program. The seminar is divided into two parts--a general skills
section and an issue-specific section during which time you may learn
about advocating in particular circumstances often encountered by blind
people, e.g. rehabilitation and Special Education contexts. Attached,
please find the agenda for this event so that you may get a sense of
what to anticipate from the seminar. I trust that the diversity of
substantive topics and the caliber of seminar presenters will appeal to
you and your membership.

Do plan to come. Please, at a minimum, consider designating at least one
person from your affiliate delegation to attend so that the information
and resources shared at this seminar may be circulated among our local
membership. Ideally, please distribute this bulletin widely, and
encourage everybody you know to plan to attend.

Should you have questions, please feel free to contact me. I look
forward to seeing many of you at the Advocacy Skills Seminar on
Wednesday, July 5, from 7:00-10:00 pm. it will be an interactive,
information-packed, practical, hands-on session. Please help make this
inaugural convention activity the success that I know it can be.

With Kind Regards,
