Mike, you do a great job. Certainly, the buck does stop with you, and that makes for some tough decisions. However, I think everyone would agree that you are very fair and liberal. After all, it is better that the buck stop with you than to have a check bounce on the floor.

Subject: [nfbwatlk] Washington Seminar
Fellow Federationists:
As you will have noted from Jim McCarthy's recent message, Washington
Seminar is fast approaching. A number of you have spoken to me requesting
attendance at the Washington Seminar with assistance from the NFB of
Washington. Our affiliate Treasurer, Gary Mackenstadt, informs me that while
the affiliate's financial cupboard is by no means bare, we are not flush
with cash at the moment. Therefore, I have reluctantly decided that the
affiliate will not be able to assist all who have requested assistance to
attend the Washington Seminar. Criteria by which I will determine whom the
affiliate will assist include both seniority (how long prospective Seminar
attendees have been a member of the NFB) and whether prospective Seminar
attendees are first-timers or have attended a previous Washington Seminar. I
shall communicate privately with those whom the affiliate will assist. Once
I have done so, I will make hotel reservations for those who will attend the
2007 Washington Seminar.
I am sorry to have to make such decisions but the buck really *does* stop
here!
Mike Freeman, President
National Federation of the Blind of Washington
