Javascript is a scripting language used by web pages to do fancy things. 
Gladys should have minimal contact with it and, in fact, although 
support in screen-readers is better than it once was, it (Javascript) 
still creates some problems for screen-readers. I suspect that Gladys is 
running into something using Javascript that the screen-reader hasn't 
figured out how to handle. It would help were we to know what she is 
trying to do.
