Sounds like that would work.

But I like Lauren's suggestion better.  Why not put what you want to send
right in the body of the message?  Then everybody can read it immediately,
without any extra fuss, or half a dozen steps, or programs you may or may
not have, etc.

Unless there's some fancy formatting that has to be preserved.  I have
never been able to figure folks' partiality for attachments.

Kind of like writing a letter, sealing it in an envelope, putting: please
read my letter inside, on the envelope, then sealing that envelope in
another envelope with the address on it.

Personally, I just stick my letter in one addressed envelope.
