the Blind San Francisco Chapter.
Tuesday, April 21
7:00 PM
Over the past few months, we have had powerful conversations about advocacy
in many forms, from showing up in the streets to calling and emailing
representatives, to thinking through safety, volunteer buddy systems, and
emergency preparedness.
This month, by popular request, we are turning to public speaking.
Members of the LightHouse Toastmasters group will join us for the first
part of the evening to share how their program works and how they approach
public speaking.
Then we will shift into a community conversation where we can learn from
each other, share tips, ask questions, and explore what it looks like to
present non-visually, speak with less reliance on notes, and build
confidence over time.
This conversation is for everyone, regardless of where you are on your
blindness journey and regardless of your experience with public speaking.
This is a low-pressure, community-centered space to get curious, learn from
peers, and explore what is possible. Public speaking has a reputation for
being one of people’s biggest fears, so we figured it might be a little
easier to face together.
All are welcome, including new and prospective members.
