for Blind and Low Vision People
The below research participant solicitation is being provided for
informational purposes only. The National Federation of the Blind has

Research Title: Exploring Creativity Support Tools for Blind and Low
Vision People
Being conducted by: Northeastern University
Purpose of the Study
The purpose of this research is to understand how blind and low
vision people engage in creative thinking process, including adding,
recording, organizing, and evaluating their ideas to build creative artifacts.
Role of the Participants and Anticipated Length of the Study
Participants will be asked to share their creative thinking processes
in daily life. Specifically, we will ask questions in various phases
of creative thinking, including adding, recording, organizing,
evaluating, and sharing ideas.
Participants will also be asked to demonstrate their work process
using a creative artifact (e.g., artwork, design) that they have done
before, either individually or with collaborators.
By creative artifacts, we refer to design prototypes, tactile arts
and crafts, images, photographs, drawings, creative writing samples
(e.g., fiction, but not academic papers at this time), and musical
compositions. These artifacts can be in any medium, as long as they
were created by the participant as part of their creative practice.
The session will last for approximately 90 minutes, and participants
will receive $45.
Proposed Participant Compensation
$45 via Amazon gift card
