National Blindness Professional Certification Board (NBPCB)
Memorial Scholarships
Arlene Hill Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is intended for individuals who
are seeking certification to teach Structured
Discovery cane travel through the NBPCB
apprenticeship program at an approved training
center. This scholarship will be awarded to a
person who exemplifies the traits of Arlene
Hillnamely a deep-seated passion for teaching
the skills of cane travel to blind people. This
scholarship is intended for individuals who are
pursuing the apprenticeship routetherefore, no
college degree is required. The amount and
frequency of the scholarship will be determined
by the NBPCB board annually, and only at such
times as a worthy candidate is identified.

Darick Ray Williamson Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is intended for individuals who
are seeking a graduate degree and certification
to teach Structured Discovery Cane Travel or
Rehabilitation teaching at an NBPCB-approved
University program. This scholarship will be
given to a person who exemplifies the traits of
Darick WilliamsonNamely the passion to teach the
skills of independence to blind people. This
scholarship is intended for individuals pursuing
a Graduate Degree in O&M or Rehab teaching, and
therefore, admittance into an NBPCB-approved
University program is required. The amount and
frequency of the scholarship will be determined
by the NBPCB board annually, and only when a worthy candidate is identified.
