Fellow Federationists,
November 22, 2014, was Family Volunteer Day.
According to Points of Light, the creator of
Family Volunteer Day, âFamilies that volunteer
together not only address community social
problems, but also strengthen themselves.
Volunteering together as a family provides
quality time, strengthens family communication
and provides opportunities for family members to
be role modelsâ
(<http://www.pointsoflight.org/signature-events/family-volunteer-day)>http://www.pointsoflight.org/signature-events/family-volunteer-day).
Did you volunteer with your family on Family
Volunteer Day? Even if you didnât, do you and
your family regularly volunteer somewhere in the
community? If so, we want to hear about it!
The Community Service Division is seeking
articles for its blog about families who
volunteer together. What kinds of projects do you
do? Why did you start volunteering together as a
family? How has volunteering brought you closer
as a family? If you volunteered on Family
Volunteer Day, where did you go and what did you
do? These are just some ideas for things you could write about.
The specifics: Send your story as an attachment
or in the body of a message to me at
Christine-parsons at sbcglobal.net. Stories should
be no more than 500 words. Be sure to include
your name, state, and a title for your story. I
look forward to reading about how you and your
family get involved and give back!
