Buy an NFB Groupon July 11-18 to Support Braille Literacy through the
Braille Enrichment for Literacy and Learning (BELL) programs
The <http://www.nfb.org/>National Federation of the Blind, the
nation's leading advocate for Braille literacy, and Groupon
Grassroots, the philanthropic arm of Groupon, are teaming up to bring
Braille into the lives of more blind children who need it.
The NFB Groupon will be available on
<http://www.groupon.com/baltimore/all>the Groupon page beginning on
July 11, and running through July 18. Groupon subscribers can pledge
support for NFB BELL programs in increments of $15, with each
purchase helping to provide one bag of Braille supplies to a blind
child participating in the BELL program.
The BELL program is a two-week intensive Braille program for all
blind children. It incorporates learning centers as well as group
lessons and blindness skills. Children participate in recess, explore
physical activities, and prepare their own lunches. At the end of the
program, each child receives a BELL bag that contains a gift
certificate for a Braille book, a slate and stylus, and other items
based on each individual program. Every $15 Groupon purchase will
fund a BELL bag!
