The following message is for NFB members
attending the Rolex 24 At Daytona. Subsequent
e-mails will include information for those who
cannot attend about how to listen and/or watch the event over the Internet.

Dear Rolex 24 At Daytona Attendees:
In just a few short days you will be attending
the world debut of our prototype nonvisual
interface that will make it possible for a blind
person to drive a car independently. Over three
hundred and fifty members of the National
Federation of the Blind will gather with tens of
thousands of race fans to witness this historic
demonstration before the start of the Rolex 24 At
Daytona! Below are some important details for
attendees of this momentous event .
Friday, January 28
SCHEDULE
* At 7:30 p.m., NFB members are invited to
attend the Blind Driver Challenge Kick-off
Rally. It will be held in the main ballroom of
the Plaza Ocean Club Hotel. NOTE: The official
Blind Driver Challenge polo shirts will be
distributed at this kick-off rally. You will be
encouraged to wear these shirts on Saturday,
January 29, so please be sure to pick yours up!
Saturday, January 29
SCHEDULE
* At 8:15 a.m., buses will depart for Daytona
International Speedway. IMPORTANT NOTE: If you
plan to ride one of the buses to the />Speedway,
please have your Rolex 24 admission ticket handy
as you board the bus. We will be checking to
make sure everyone has purchased a ticket prior to boarding.
* At 9:00 a.m., NFB members will arrive at
the NFB Grandstands section of the Daytona International Speedway.
* At 11:35 a.m., the Blind Driver Challenge
vehicle will begin to traverse the Daytona International Speedway race track.
* At 12:30 p.m., the official Press
Conference will begin in the Driver's Meeting
Room. All NFB members are encouraged to attend.
* At 3:30 p.m., the 49th Rolex 24 At Daytona begins.
* On the top of every hour between 2:00 and
6:00 p.m., buses will depart for the hotels. The
bus pick-up area will be outside the Sprint FANZONE.
* At 6:30 p.m., NFB members are invited to
attend the NFB Blind Driver Challenge
Celebration! Pizza, salad, and dessert will be
served and a cash bar will be open.
OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION
* The SUGGESTED DRESS CODE for Saturday, January 29, is as follows:
All NFB members are encouraged to wear the
official Blind Driver Challenge polo shirt that
will be handed out at the rally on Friday
evening. The polo shirt is purple with white
racing stripes. Since NFB members are strongly
encouraged to attend the press conference and may
be interviewed by members of the press, you are
thus encouraged to dress in attire that will
reflect the professionalism and the integrity of
the organization as well as the import of the event.
In the event that the weather is too cold or
otherwise unsuitable for the official Blind
Driver Challenge polo shirt, NFB members are
encouraged to wear business casual but weather-appropriate attire.
