NFB of Michigan State Convention 2026 Volunteer Opportunities…
The NFB of Michigan State Convention is shaping up to be an exciting and busy weekend, and we are looking for volunteers from chapters across the state to help make the convention welcoming, organized, and accessible for everyone attending.

Below is a list of volunteer opportunities and what each role involves.
Registration Team Volunteers

Assist attendees at the registration table with:
• Convention check-in
• Name badges
• Registration bags/materials
• Answering general questions
• Helping direct attendees throughout the hotel

Additional assistance may include helping attendees get from the registration area to:
• Their hotel room/check-in area
• Meeting rooms
• Convention activities
• Other hotel locations as needed.

Greeters & Hotel Navigation Team

Help guests become familiar with the hotel and convention setup by:
• Greeting attendees as they arrive
• Providing directions
• Assisting individuals with locating elevators, meeting rooms, banquet areas, restrooms, and other convention spaces
• Helping attendees feel comfortable navigating the hotel

We are also hoping to provide a hotel layout/map ahead of time for attendees.

Accessibility Assistance Team

Assist individuals during board meetings and general sessions by:
• Assisting individuals to and from the podium when speaking
• Helping attendees locate designated seating areas
• Maintaining accessibility near the podium area

A designated table near the podium will be reserved for individuals who may have difficulty walking long distances to speak.

Attendees needing this accommodation are encouraged to contact KaShonia Graham ahead of time so arrangements can be made.

Talking Signs Volunteers

Talking Signs volunteers will provide verbal directions and guidance to attendees throughout the convention. Responsibilities include directing attendees to:
• Registration
• Friday activities
• Saturday seminars
• Hospitality Suite
• General Sessions
• Sunday Board Meeting
• Banquet and other convention activities

These volunteers will act as live directional support throughout the hotel to help attendees move smoothly between events and activities.

Friday Activity Volunteers

The team coordinating Friday activities will have volunteers stationed at the activity entrance and throughout the event.

Hospitality Suite Volunteers

Faye Chennault Johnson is coordinating the Hospitality Suite. Volunteers assisting with:
• Hospitality setup
• Greeting guests
• Refreshments
• Monitoring the suite
• General hospitality support

General Convention Floaters

We are also looking for flexible volunteers willing to help wherever needed throughout the convention weekend. This may include:
• Last-minute assistance
• Runner tasks
• Seating support
• Directional assistance
• Helping during transitions between activities

Accessibility Request Reminder

Anyone who may need assistance getting to the podium or who would benefit from reserved seating near the podium should contact KaShonia Graham in advance so accommodations can be arranged ahead of the convention.
