The Governor's Committee on Disability issues and Employment is still
recruiting applicants to fill five AmeriCorps*VISTA Member positions to
serve as members of Disability Program Navigator Teams in WorkSource
Centers across the State of Washington.  (See the attached position
announcement for position description, duties and position
requirements.)  These positions will be located in the following cities
in Washington State: Omak, Bellingham, Olympia, Bremerton and Kennewick.
The closing date has been extended through October 5.

Disability Navigator Specialist



POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Governor's Committee on Disability issues and Employment is recruiting 
applicants to fill five AmeriCorps*VISTA Member positions to serve as 
members of Disability Program Navigator Teams in WorkSource Centers across 
the State of Washington.  Under the direction of Local Disability Program 
Navigators, these AmeriCorps*VISTA Members will serve as resources assisting 
WorkSource staff and partners to improve the access, services and outcomes 
that WorkSource Centers and Affiliates provide for job seekers who have 
disabilities.  These positions will be located in the following cities in 
Washington State: Omak, Bellingham, Olympia, Bremerton and Kennewick.



 Duties will include:



  a.. Provide coordination and logistic support for training activities 
developed by the Lead Disability Program Navigators.
  b.. Assist in compiling data and preparing reports.
  c.. Participate in required Washington Service Corp and Disability Program 
Navigator training and orientation activities.
  d.. Facilitate development of a Work Strides program.
  e.. Contact local employers to promote hiring and identify opportunities 
for job seekers with disabilities.
  f.. Conduct outreach and onsite orientations with disability consumer 
organizations and disability service provider organizations to introduce 
people with disabilities to WorkSource.


HOURS / DAYS / SCHEDULE:

Will serve 40 hours per week with some flexible scheduling. Usually 8-5, 
Mon-Fri.



POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  a.. Must be 18 years of age or older
  b.. Must have min. of HS Diploma/GED
  c.. Must be able to work independently, be trustworthy & dependable
  d.. Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality
  e.. Pass criminal background check.
  f.. Prompt and regular attendance is a MUST
  g.. Ability to present information to groups, individuals and community 
members.
  h.. Use presentation technology and software.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  a.. Strong interest in helping job seekers with disabilities obtain jobs, 
explore career choices and helping disability organizations learn about 
WorkSource services.
  b.. Good communication skills, willing to interact with local employers to 
identify employment possibilities.
  c.. Previous experience with disability preferred.
  d.. Computer experience in Outlook, MS Word & Excel preferred.


 STIPEND/BENEFITS:

Monthly living allowance of $949 in King County, $865 in Clark County and 
$833 in all other counties.  Health insurance provided and childcare 
assistance if income-eligible. Member can earn and educational award up to 
$4,725 toward college expenses. These positions run for twelve months. 
Members who successfully complete their participation will be eligible to 
apply for an additional 1 year project, and would earn an additional $4,725 
educational award for successful completion of the project. Participation in 
this project will require the AmeriCorps VISTA Members to develop and 
complete a Community Action Project, in addition to the other duties listed 
in this recruitment notice.
