All poems must:
be the original work of the entrant,
cannot be published elsewhere, and cannot have won a cash prize.
be titled with something other than the contest category title.
be typed, photocopied, or computer-generated, single-spaced, on one side
of 8 1/2 X 11 plain white paper.
use a 32 or less line limit (when not otherwise stated)-ballads may be
longer.
use a 56 character (including punctuation and spaces) line width.
adhere to the style, form, or subject stated in the category description. If
there is no statement regarding these, any style, subject, and/or form is
fine.
Failure to follow these rules may result in your poems being disqualified.
To Submit Poems:
Send 2 clean copies of each poem.
On both copies, place category number and name of category in the
upper left corner.
On one copy, place your name, address, phone number, and email in the upper
right corner.
Separate copies from the originals and organize each group in numerical
order.
Include a cover sheet, listing your
name, address, phone number, email address, category number and name,
and titles of poems entered for each category.
Submit only one poem per category, except for Grand Prix.
No poem may be entered in more than one category.
Do not send your only copy(ies), as poems will not be returned.
Enclose a #10 size SASE (self-addressed, stamped envelope).
Contest Fees:
Category 1, Grand Prix: $5 per poem
(members and non-members), 4 poem limit.
All other categories: $2 each for non-
members, 1 poem limit per category
KSPS members may enter poems for
$1 per poem (except for Grand Prix) OR submit poetry in any number of
categories (except Grand Prix) for a $12 flat fee
(flat fee rate for members only). .
Make checks and money orders
payable to KSPS Contest Fund; please do not send cash.
Overpayments will not be returned.
Underpayments may result in disqualification.
Awards and Winning Poems:
Awards for winning poems will be presented at the Annual Awards Banquet.
The 2007 Awards Banquet
will be held October 12-14 at Blue Licks Battlefield State Resort Park.
Please see the KSPS web site (www.kystatepoetrysociety.org) for
details. Winning poets unable to attend will receive their awards in the
mail.
First place poems will be published in Pegasus, the KSPS journal.
