National Association of Blind Students:
A Division of the National Federation of the Blind
Proudly Presents:
The NABS Winter Conference 2007
For over 30 years the National Association of Blind Students has
provided support, information, and encouragement to blind college and
university students. NABS leads the way on offering resources in issues
such as national testing, accessible textbooks and materials, overcoming
negative attitudes about blindness from school personnel, developing new
techniques of accomplishing laboratory or field assignments and other issues
pertaining to the college and employment experience. With divisions in over
thirty states, NABS is the undisputed voice of blind students in the
country, and on January 28 we want you to be a part of one of our biggest
annual traditions.
WHEN: January 28, 2007 - 9:00 AM to midnight
WHERE: The Holiday Inn Capital
550 C Street S.W.
Washington, DC 20024
(202) 479-4000

Our annual winter meeting is held in conjunction with Washington
Seminar, a legislative gathering that attracts over 600 delegates from all
fifty states. Participating students enjoy various panel discussions from
our organization's highly accomplished leaders, targeting topics that are of
great interest to students inside and outside of the lecture halls.
Breakout sessions help students tackle discussions on social issues,
rehabilitative training and the very latest in evolving technology. Through
a roll call of states and a President's Luncheon, students give and take of
their experiences to help the organization grow and expand to meet the needs
of every student from a national level down to local communities. Our day
of business culminates with an elegant banquet--this winter to be marked by
the distinguished keynote address of Dr. Fred Schroeder, former RSA
Commissioner and first vice-president of the NFB's national board. And the
agenda only keeps getting better with a fierce auction featuring high-end
products from some of the country's leading adaptive manufacturers to
popular items that are, dare we say, finger-lickin' good? Kick back
afterward with an informal social to catch up on old friendships and create
new ones.
Students will be interested to know of other seminars occurring during
the five-day course of the Washington Seminar, including potential meetings
by the following: National Association of Blind Lawyers, National
Organization of the Senior Blind, National Association of Blind Merchants
and the midwinter O and M/rehabilitation conference. And of course, the
legislative seminar kicks off Monday, January 29 promptly at 5:00 PM, just a
day before we pound the halls of Congress to educate our representatives
with the issues that are pertinent to our daily lives.
It's going to be an entertaining and instructive occasion in the
nation's capital, and you are cordially invited to join the nation's leading
student organization for the best winter gathering you have ever attended.
