I think it would be great if you just started writing it up. Maybe you
could run it by some of the kids you know and see if it answers all their
questions or if they feel anything else should be added. I like this idea.

If you start the writing I will try to get Mary, when she goes back after
Spring Break, to help me find a date that they will be free and looking for
something to do.

I like the pick neck thing. We could do something after their study hour,
maybe at seven thirty or so, and just have snacks and play games outside.
Or we could do it in that time that was once taken up by sports. Another
thing to run by Mary. We should find out what time of day the kids seem
most likely to be looking for something to do.

Hey everyone,

I've come up with a few ideas about an event at KSB before school lets
out.

For starters I think it would be good to have it in about the second week
of May that way all the KSB kids are done with sports and most everyone
should be done with college. That gives us a bigger time frame to work
with. But along with that we would need to get a list of of the events
going on at KSB in May. I know for certain right now there IS the
Washington D.C. trip for the Juniors and Seniors, the sports banquet, and
something for prom going on. So we obviously wouldn't want to have a
meeting there the same day as any of those things.

I think we should do something outside w2with the kids. Perhaps like a
picnic type setting with group games.

The other thing I think we really need to consider is typing up a hand=out
telling about NFB and KABS. I realize we talk about KABS at the start of
these events but I really feel that most of the kids still have no idea what
KABS or NFB are. For example I was told that recently at KSB there was a
speaker at KSB that was talking about planning events for the ACB and of
the girls that was at our last event said "I've only been to an NFB event so
far but right now all I know is both groups are groups of blind people"
I have a basic idea for the format. Basically it could start with "Ten
Facts about KABS/NFB." Then if we missed anything there follow it with a
BRIEF paragraph telling about any philosophy we left out. Then end it with
info about how to join KABS and possibly give links to other divisions of
NFB such as the Sports and Rec division, or computer users. Just kind of
something that might catch their eye at the end to see that there's a a
great deal to NFB.

That's about as far as I've gotten on this for right now. I know it got
long winded sorry guys.

  Katie
