Subject: [Nfbkabs] Attention All Diabetics, We Need Your Help

>From Joanne Wilson:

If you have type 2 diabetes and live near Chicago, New York or Los Angeles
the NFB Diabetes Action Network urgently needs your help.

NFB is participating in a study about those who have lost vision due to type
2 diabetes. If you or someone you know has become blind or visually-impaired
from diabetic retinopathy due to type 2 diabetes please respond.
Participants need not be affiliated with the NFB nor do they have to be
completely blind.

When? The focus groups will be conducted Oct 30-NY, Nov 1-Chicago and Nov
2-Los Angeles.

What is our goal? The results from this research will be used to build
better communication and education materials about Type 2 Diabetes and its
possible complications.

Will I receive compensation for my participation?
Yes. For your participation in the group you will receive $100.00

You will be paid (in cash) at the conclusion of your focus group.

Beverages (lunch, dinner, snacks, depending on the time of the group) and
parking will be provided to you at no cost.

Here's how you can participate, and what you can expect if you do
participate:

If you participate, Your name, telephone number, and address will never be
disclosed or distributed to anyone .

What is the focus group process?
An experienced moderator, knowledgeable about Type 2 Diabetes and its
potential complications, will talk with you and others in the group about
your experiences as a person with Type 2 Diabetes and what it has been
like to live with the condition.  Your comments can be positive or negative;
we want you to know that your honest opinions are what is important to us,
and that every answer you provide gives us insight into how to better
communicate with people who have Type 2 Diabetes.

Should you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact Eileen
Rivera Ley 410-296-7760 or Angela Glass at 1.800.836.1684, x100.
