Hi Jane!
It might here are some suggestions for how to include members from outside
the Louisville area for when there can't be a cellphone network/internet
network. Have you considered posting the minutes on the list for all to read
and then ask for member public comments/suggestions feedback from the
minutes? This might be one way to gain new perspective from those outside of
Louisville. Also, submit some open ended questions to be answered by the
membership this has been done before and if nothing else it sparks
interaction and thought provocation among members. Another idea is have you
thought about hosting over the internet a kind of trivio pursuit game in
which KABS could possibly make some money at and maybe present some kind of
prize for the winner(s)
Well that is all I can think of for now but let me know if this is
worthwhile to you or useful at all. Talk to you later

Subject: [Nfbkabs] The meeting and the future
This past Tuesday members of KABS held a meeting on the campus of the
Kentucky School for the Blind, in an effort to both have a meeting to kick
off the year's business, but to do this in a location that would be
accessible to those high school students that attend KSB. Our effort paid
off and we had about eight of the students at the school who attended and
expressed interest in attending future KABS events. I know that everyone is
concerned with the meeting focus still being in Louisville, and I understand
this. So that I why I am getting this discussion started. I still want to
have events at the school, or at least for some of us to go and hang out
with the kids. But this does not mean we have to have meetings. I know
that many of us would like to see less of the meeting structure and that it
is really not practical given peoples schedules and with the membership we
have out in the state and would like to have soon.
So what I am thinking is that in this list we have a great resource to pass
on ideas, and get events planned at least in part without all getting
together. What do you all think.
Also in this vein I would like Jennifer to get on here and tell us how she
does her rock'a thon becaus I was thinking that an event like this could be
done with all of us no matter what city we are in, on the same day, but
getting sponsorship in our own areas. It could be any kind of "a thon"
Braille reading, walking, whatever. But doing something on the same day
might give a kind of since of unity.
Sorry if this seems scattered. All I can say is SCHOOL!!
Jayne
