Hey KABS,
Attached is a copy of the flyer for the KABS 2006 Student Seminar. Please
disseminate widely and start now. In August (date to be determined) we will
have a meeting at which we will stuff and stamp envelopes to all colleges in
Kentucky to let them know about our seminar and the state convention. For
now though, please email and give/mail this flyer to anyone you can think of
who may know of a blind student. If you go to church, post it there. If
you go to a particular hair dresser/barber ask if you can post it there.
You just never know who might see it and think about someone they know.

Also, I just wanted to mention that I went to a meeting today at the public
library here in Louisville where we talked about having our second annual
Meet the Blind Month activities. This year it will be a little different in
that we are doing one main event at the main library in the children's
department and two smaller events at branch locations throughout the month.
I'll have more details in the coming weeks, but for now please mark your
calendars for Sat. October 14 from 2 to 4. We'll need as many hands as we
can get to help at this event.

Some other things on the horizon are a day in October when we'll sell
doughnuts and coffee and distribute literature at Wal-Mart and hopefully a
day in August (I'm calling about this tomorrow) when we'll get partial
proceeds from a restaurant - so we'll need to push as many people in there
that day as we possibly can. Jayne and I were thinking that if we could get
a deal with a downtown restaurant then we could deliver flyers to some of
the larger companies downtown like Humana so that we have a chance of
getting a large number of people to eat there. I'll get back with you all
on details as I know them.

Sorry to make this so long, but I wanted to keep you all posted on some of
the things we'll be doing soon. Where is everyone? This list is much too
quiet. Don't forget to be thinking about what areas you can help with from
the list I sent in the last email. Thanks in advance,
Melanie
