I encourage you all to either register to be a mentor or to find a mentor.
This is a wonderful new program that so many of us can benefit from in
various ways. In the email below there is a link to the website where you
can register. I just registered and it only took about ten minutes. I hope
you all will consider doing the same.
Melanie

Subject: [nabs-l] Announcing NFBLink
Please note that you must be at least 18 years old to participate in the
below program.
Dear Students,
Blind students need your help and expertise! The National
Federation of the Blind recently launched NFBLink, a new online program
which
matches people seeking information about blindness with knowledgeable NFB
mentors. NFBLink will provide blind persons in all walks of life, parents
and
teachers of the blind, and others interested in blindness with valuable
information, resources, and support.
In order for NFBLink to be successful and to reach out to as
many people as possible, we need to have a strong and diverse base of
mentors with
a wide range of talents and expertise. We are especially in need of persons
like yourselves who can offer guidance and experience to blind students.
We would like you to please go to
<http://www.nfblink.org> www.nfblink.org
and sign up to become a mentor. You will be asked a variety of questions
that will enable us to better match you with "mentees". After you enroll,
your profile will be saved and you will be notified when a mentoring
opportunity becomes available. We are currently building our mentor base, so
you may
not receive mentees for the next few weeks.
We greatly appreciate your willingness to help with NFBLink. As you know
from experience, mentoring is one of the primary missions of the NFB.
Although
NFBLink is an online program, we hope that it will be just the first step to
including mentees in our Federation family and activities. NFBLink will
offer
another avenue to teach people the truth about blindness.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding the sign-up process,
