Dear Federation Family:
Some of you may know a few of our members from over the years.
Kathy Roskos has been dealing with health issues over the past months and
has been hospitalized at UFHealth in Gainesville since last Saturday. She
was having difficulty breathing due to fluid in her lung, and she was being
treated for "walking pneumonia." She has liver function issues that the
fluid was going into the lung. They are doing a lot of G.I. tests to see if
she can tolerate a liver transplant. She has an upper endoscopy procedure
tomorrow. She has had a time. Earlier this month, she returned her guide
dog to Seeing Eye because she needed to resolve her health issues and she
felt they could find another partner for his productivity. He is 2 years
old. I got to visit her at UFHealth, Shands this afternoon with Carrie
Zubillaga, and Carrie's mother, Pat. Kathy was in good spirits and she is
on Oxygen. I am not sure how many more tests they are going to do before
they decide what they are going to do. Keep her in your thoughts and
prayers and if you know anyone who donates blood and can do so, the blood
supply in our country is low.
Another long time member of our chapter, Lenora McGowan is in another
hospital across town. She had a pacemaker put in sometime between Palm
Sunday and Easter. She also has a lot of health issues in addition to the
latest. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.
I will try to keep you informed on how we are doing whenever I hear more.
My Email and contact information are below in case you want to contact me
off list.
Thanks.
