Hello, Sunrise and Shine Family!
I'm so happy to announce our next Sunrise and Shine with NFB-NEWWSLINER,;
not just because we haven't met in almost a month, but also because our
special guest speaker, Nicole Saunders, Bureau Chief of the Florida Braille
and Talking Book Library, will be joining us for part of the first hour to
provide some extremely important and timely updates. So much has been
discussed lately about Talking Book services for the blind and print
disabled, and still, many of us are confused about what changes have
occurred, what's likely to happen down the road and what these changes might
mean to us all.
Nicole, along with other members of her team, will also shine a spotlight on
some of the exciting things happening both here in Florida at the Library
and at NLS. I can't wait to hear more about the new Talking Book player, the
DA-2, that many of us can start receiving in the very near future. This
truly digital player will come with wi-fi and Bluetooth capabilities and
lots of memory to store tons of audio downloads. I know many of you will ask
about how the release of the E-Readers has gone over the past year or so.
We'll learn too about how the Florida Braille and Talking Book Library is
changing with the times and how they are working hard to deliver services to
us all in the most efficient ways possible.
Hopefully this information-packed 'rise and Shine will entice you to be with
us this coming Thursday, April 12th at 9:00 AM, (Eastern) and hopefully
you'll tell others about our terrific Zoom gathering and will encourage them
to drop in and visit. it's so wonderful when visitors become part of our
'Rise and Shine family.
If you haven't been to one of our calls before, joining us at 9:00 AM for
coffee or tea will give you a chance to find out what you've been missing.
We always take time for welcoming new guest speakers and participants and
for lots of warmth and laughter.
Most of us have become pretty familiar with attending meetings using the
Zoom platform over the past few years and in fact, we've been using Zoom
since we launched Rise and Shine way back on April 16th2020. If you're not
used to using Zoom or if it's still giving you difficulties, don't give up
just yet. You can access the meeting by clicking on he below listed web
link, by using the one tap mobile feature or by dialing the phone number
provided and entering the access code when prompted.
The regulars on our call are always warm and welcoming and are thrilled to
see new faces.
Hope to have you with us this Thursday morning, see below for the Zoom info.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me before the
call. Check the bottom of this email for the Zoom call-in instructions.
