[NFBCS] A Bug Regarding Copying Information From Web Pages and JAWS History

I encountered this situation today as well.

My workaround was using speech history and for some reason it was flaky as
well, but this worked as follows:

1.	Move cursor above the line with text to copy line.
2.	Clear speech history (insert + space, h + shift)
3.	Move cursor down slowly past lines you want to copy.
4.	Now do copy speech history (insert+spacebar, h+ctrl)
5.	Now paste in notepad and clean up.

You do miss the formatting, but I did not need it.

Kept missing the link and other bold text with normal webpage copy.

Subject: [NFBCS] A Bug Regarding Copying Information From Web Pages and JAWS
History

Greetings All:

There has been considerable discussion of late on some mailing lists about
what does and doesn't work when using a screen reader to copy information
off of individual web pages. This discussion seems to have been kicked off
by a "bug" introduced in the Chromium-based browsers Google Chrome and
Microsoft Edge. The bug also appears to manifest when attempting to copy
text from the JAWS Speech History to the Clipboard. Essentially, copying to
the Clipboard works sometimes but not always under certain circumstances.

The quickest (but perhaps not ideal) way to fix this is to do the following.

1.	Focus JAWS either in the Speech History or a web page in whatever
Chromium-based browser you are using.
2.	Press the JAWSKEY with the letter v to enter JAWS Quick Settings.
3.	Type the word "copy" without the quotes and start pressing the Down
Arrow key.
4.	If you hear JAWS say something like, " Full content using onscreen
highlight," press Space until you hear JAWS say something like, " Select and
Copy From Virtual Cursor."
5.	Tab to and activate the OK button.

This option is not ideal because text is the only thing that gets copied to
the Clipboard. If (especially for web pages) you are interested in actual
links and other formatting to be copied, this option is not ideal.

The word is that the folks at Freedom Scientific are working on a fix for
this issue, but as of this writing, the fix has not been released.

Cordially,

Curtis Chong
