[Nfb-web] transportation information

Hello Mike and listers,
The same could be said about placing area restaurant information on NFB Web
sites, but Illinois plans to do it. It's true that this information can be
obtained by those Web savvy folks who know how to find it, but for others
having it there could help to get members out to chapter meetings and other
federation activities. This one is a two-edge sword.

Seems to me anyone savvy enough to use the wb sites could Google the
same information elsewhere. I may be a minority of one but I figure any
infomration one can get elsewhere has no business on a NFB web site.

Hello Ruth Ann and listers,
Might I also suggest adding information and links to area transit
authorities around the state to give visitors an idea of available
transportation in various Illinois communities. This information will
benefit those wishing to attend area chapter meetings and those
contemplating a move to various parts of Illinois. We're doing this on
the
Missouri Web Site. For a look check out:

NFBI has a very unique identity on the web. While we do have the
standard
and expected information on our site, we aren't going to be a
"standard"
affiliate website any time soon under my watch. I've always been the
kind
of person who "runs with scissors"....never "normal" or "standard" for
this
girl here. ;-)
If you haven't ever gone to our site, it is at:
www.nfbofillinois.org
All our sub-sites are linked off the main page, and I am sure we will
continue to do so under xCatalyst.
To add to our character of our affiliate site, one of my web committee
is
coming up with a restaurant list for each of the chapters to add among
the
various resources, and another web member is creating a memorial for
those
who have passed in our affiliate, so even more unique features are
coming to
our state site as time goes on.

I hope you don't follow the national web site standard, at least not
in
content arrangement. I find it difficult to locate information that
used to
be more easily accessible directly from the main page.--Joe Orozco
