Hello All and Ruth Ann,

It has been some time since I have been away from working software on
computers. This seminar was a real blessing for me to cogitate on
xCatalyst and new ideas. Networking with all of you was very nice and
I would love to have additional contact from time to time.

Ruth, so I won't have to totally reinvent the whole wheel and save
time as well could I have a copy of your report that you presented to
your state president so I can adapt it to present it to our state
president and / or state board?

Thanks much and I appreciate your friendship.

Hi all,

Handouts would have been a nice addition. However, I took pretty good
notes

from the seminar in Word for myself, so I'll be OK in getting started
up,

and figure that as I encounter problems, I would ask here.

I'm hoping to convince our Illinois board that this is the way to go.
I see

xCatalyst as being a great way to manage a site like nfbofillinois.org
and

it will make my job easier. I submitted an extensive report to our

president on the conference and am still awaiting a response from her.
I

have had response from our student division president and another
board

member, both favorable.

Over the weekend, I was able to build a test site, 3 pages in size,
and

included that in the report.

Hello Quintina and listers,

The same here. I believe whenever other seminars are held
participants

are given material to take home with them or to read in their spare
time. I

was looking forward to reading this material on the flight back to San

Antonio. Having said that let's remember that this was a first for the
NFB

Jernigan Institute. Perhaps this suggestion will be acted upon for
follow-up

seminars.

The only other thing I could suggest is that a P.A. system be
installed

in the computer lab to make it easier for those with hearing
impairments to

hear the speaker. I have hearing aids, but the blasted things spend
more

time in the repair shop than they do on me. They're always going out
due to

ear wax being lodged in them. A friend of ours also has the same
problem

with her hearing aids. Other participants told me that they also had
trouble

hearing too. My hearing is such that if there's a P.A. system in use I
can

hear much better. It's only a matter of sitting closer to a speaker,
or in

the front of the room. When Gary moved me to the workstation closer to
where

John was it was easier to hear him, but he still sounded rather
unclear.

Add to that that workstation had a laptop so I was faced with
having to

figure out how to use it. As I said in this business there's lots of

opportunities for structured-discovery learning. I got my share of it
during

the seminar including learning how to use the laptop. I jumped in with
both

feet and began feeling comfortable with it by the time we finished on

Saturday evening.

It was also a pleasure to meet you too. I'll be curious to hear
about

your X Catalyst adventures as well as those of others on this list.
Happy

Valentine's Day.
