[Nfb-web] Poor Marketing & Communication Efforts

HI Mike, Gary, and all,

Ah, but Mike, you assume everyone uses JFW, and that is
just not so. While I have it, and used to rely on it
solely, I've been working with Zoomtext. Now, while
JFW might read that there is an image there, there
isn't. I don't get it. Even in the sourcecode, I find
no IMG tag for such an image. But all I know is basic
HTML, and there are other codes out there it may be
embedded in. But the only images on that page are the
ones I can see, which was a small "ConferenceLogo"
icon. Well, that and a couple or 3 spacer gifs.

I did check some other Web sites at the same time on
the same browser, in a different window, and all
graphics I knew should be there, were there. So
graphics display *is* on. There just appears to be no
main logo on this site, showing their name.

Okay, I just went and rechecked something. The phrase
JFW read, "California Transcribers and Educators of the
Visually Handicapped," I knew had to be in the page
somewhere. I searched the code again and for whatever
silly reason, they put that in the ALT tag text of one
of their Spacer GIFs. So like I said, there apparently
is no main logo. That wouldn't be so bad if they, for
those who are light-reliant, could read the name at
least in the Title bar.

The first thing you say JFW read, Mike, was what is in
the Title bar. "CTEVH Home." That's it. It's as
vague as their advertisement in the Braille Monitor.

Anyway, good for JAWS. It's doing it's job. Seems in
the case of poor marketing of a Web site or through a
Web site, JFW is once again shown to be better or
quicker than sight in this instance. Just like with
many of the Hotkeys. (smile)

Thanks, Guys,
Everett
