[Nfb-web] Looking for JJ

Good afternoon everyone,

Are you talking about the Webmasters Meeting, or the National
Association of Guide Dog Users Meetings audio. During the Webmasters Meeting
Gary Wunder asked someone if they would be willing to host the .MP3 file of
that meeting. I'm not sure if he found someone yet or not.

Before I begin explaining about the NAGDU Audio I want to say that I'm
posting this only after making several attempts to contact J.J. privately
and receiving no response from him by e-mail, or by phone. Many of us
appreciate his willingness to record or Webcast our activities, but find
ourselves frustrated by this lack of response where receiving the completed
digitization's of these recordings are concerned so we can process them in a
timely manner and post them for site visitors to listen to. This happened
with the NFB of Tennessee's audio earlier this year, and is happening again
with NAGDU'S audio files. If it were me I would make it a practice to carry
blank CDS with me when I do a job and burn the organization a copy after
completing the recording, or would send it to the designated person upon my
returning home from the event before I rush off to summer camp or whatever
activity is on my agenda next. He assured me that he would burn the files
for me, and would send them to me when I got home. That was two weeks ago,
and to date I have not received these files, nor have I received any
responses to my messages or a message asking me if I received the NAGDU
audio files.

NAGDU also agreed to pay him for recording its meetings. If he wants to
get paid he needs to contact Priscilla Ferris who will cut him the check for
his services. This too I told him privately. Anyone who provides a service
of this kind needs to deliver the finished product promptly and to the
designated person, and should also be sure to contact the organization's
treasurer or other designated person to receive payment for their services
rendered. It's obviously to their advantage to do so.

The other solution to this dilemma is for more of us to learn how to
record and webcast NFB and other functions and to build trust in those whom
we provide these services for so they know they can count on us to do a
top-notch job, and to deliver the finished productions in a timely manner.
Mary and I are considering purchasing the equipment ourselves so we can
perform this service for NFB and others who may request them. To be fare to
J.J. he can't be in two places at once. Hence more of us need to learn how
to produce digital audio and conduct Webcasts so a greater amount of NFB
audio can be made available on the Internet in the coming years. Part of our
Webmasters Meeting this summer was spent discussing this subject. I can't
wait to hear the audio from that meeting myself. Gary Wunder recorded that
one. I'm sure he's working on readying the file for posting to a Web site,
but am not sure if he still plans to do that. Now to check the rest of my
e-mail.

Hi all,

JJ gave out his contact info at the webmaster's meeting in Dallas. If
anyone can forward that to me off list, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,

-- Rob
