Don't forget that the meta tag has a limit of 255 characters for the
keywords list and description.
Now, since it is apparent that the meta tag has gone out of acceptance, what
do search engines use to rank a site?

Hello again.
As a follow-up, I just modified our meta description tag. I'll know in a
week or two if it worked. Here's what I put. All suggestions welcome.

<META NAME="DESCRIPTION" CONTENT="The National Federation of the Blind of
Michigan provides resources, mentoring, and advocacy for blind and visually
impaired residents of the state of Michigan and beyond. Activities include
furthering the independence of the blind and visually impaired, promoting
braille literacy, and improving employment opportunities for the blind
community."
