Ray,

I wouldn't make that promise too easily.  I know you're trying to be
consoling here, but this is an open list.  While we may be having a
friendly debate and are sure not to let it become ugly, we occasionally do
get people posting whose primary goal seems to cause chaos.  We just had
one of those about two weeks ago, and the people responsible are on the
list, but once again dormant.

They pop up maybe twice a year, post a dozen or so good trolls over a
couple of weeks, flooding the list with people who don't know better
trying to correct their understanding, and then disappear for half a year.

That's life on the Internet for you--it happens on any list where matters
of substance are discussed.  The only way to avoid it is a strictly
moderated list (which brings up the ghost of censorship) or to discuss
nothing of substance anywhere.  Neither of those is particularly appealing
to me, personally.
