Kirk,

The best solutions anyone's come up with so far involve changing the size
or adding notches along the edges.  It is thought by many that the notch
patterns would make the bills tear more easily.  As it is, US treasury
notes have an average lifespan of 18 months in circulation.  Decreasing
that average lifespan even a little bit isn't going to happen.
