hi,
let me add another post to the many who have written to you so capably.
We're all experiencing blindness in our own way but never think of yourself
as nothing - you['re everything to your child and to many others; now you've
written, you're a participant in one great plan to change what it means to
be blind.
Blind people, each in his/her particular way, are doing every type of
occupation and hobby and activity imaginable. It doesn't happen over night,
and, like you, we're always continuing to learn, practice, and rework
things.
I would not be good working with horses, but it isn't because I'm blind,
it's because I have no trust of animals; hundreds of blind people work with
animals daily.
Some blind people hate cooking, but it isn't blindness that causes this,
it's just that they hate cooking - while I love it and spend hours
developing recipes.
Blind people SCUBA dive, are engineers, gardeners, parents, track stars, and
lots more.
I'm glad you wrote to us and hope you'll continue to keep in touch with us.
best,
kat

What's up my name is Melissa I have a 4 year old child. I am 27 years
old I lost my sight 2 years ago and I am in the process of learning how to
read all the braille that there is to learn and I do not think I will ever
get that done but I sure am going to try! I love the outdoors I used to
train horses and work with a vet before I lost my sight but now I am
nothing. If anyone knows how I can get started again I am open to
suggestions. I have found it very hard and heart breaking when people turn
you away when they find out you can not see. I am probably the most bubbly,
people person you could ever talk to and I am always willing to talk to
anyone any time anywhere. I always thought we where all equal.
Peace out, Melissa
