Terry,
The guy running into the flag was a Mr. Magoo-esque comedy skit featuring
an actor (and apparently stunt man) playing the role of the new governor
of New York. Avoiding running into the flag would have been trivial for
any cane user, but that's not funny on late night talk shows. (It isn't
very funny anywhere else for that matter, but still)...
