[nfb-talk] [Blindtlk] HumanWare, Extreme Makeover Home Edition, here we go again

Hi Alan and list,
I was trying to appeal to reason here! I'm wearing out the delete key!
Until we get the producers of that program on this list, I think we are
spinning our wheels! We are either preaching to the choir or trying to
influence some or all members of the choir! I don't see where anything is
being accomplished with this thread but then I'm not the moderator and
that's that! I'm just tired of seeing it!
Now if we were to get into issues concerning the organizational structure of
the NFB, how it relates to vendors, and are we or are we not achieving what
we set out to achieve, I say this would be a discussion I'd be a part of!
Till then, as I see it, we are just spinning our wheels on this thread!
Jim Aldrich

rest...

People!
Don't you think this thread has gone on much too long? It is better than a
week now and what has been solved other than venting? I think enough is
enough!

> > x^^240 Why are you bashing HW anyway. x^^240 They just anounced that
the show was going to be aired and I think they said they were going to be
represented. x^^240 I saw the whole show and there was no mention of HW.
X^^240 The only thing I can come up with is maybe the controls for the new
wheel chair were actually a GPS. X^^240 I think his lack of being able to
walk was emfasized a lot more than his blindness. x^^240 That is in our
faver. x^^240 I found one extreamly stupid thing they did for him, that was
to put that ability for music to go off, when he went into a spacific room.
x^^240 Also, HW might have had something to do with creating the door that
would open when the gentleman would say, open. x^^240 I liked his aditude
about looking at what he could do not what he could not d. x^^240 He seamed
to always be on the positive side which is a pluss for him and the NF-B.
X^^240 Many blind with out jobs or the ability to read, are depressed and
dependent on SSI. I think their main goal was to make the home accessable,
because of his wheelchair needs. x^^240 They also over did it in the music
area by buying him all that recording equipment. x^^240 What did that have
to do with his handicap. x^^240 I still saw no sign of HW. X^^240 If they
were not in the show, how did they know about the show" x^^240 They had to
be in the background someware.

the least. x^^240 I do think a more low-key approach generally involving
talking to someone in a position to see to it that this doesn't happen again
would probably get far better results far quicker.

Streams over philosophical concerns? Fanatics would but I fear me greatly
that it would end up a huge bust and would cause us more problems than we
would solve.
