[nfb-talk] question about audio description programming

I would not necessarily assume that they will make DVs available on HDTV.
In further fact, I would not necessarily assume that accessibility to cable
and satellite set top boxes will be made available either; despite the NFB
resolution. Let's face it. They're not going to bother to pay attention to
us because we really won't make much if any of a dent in their market even
if we all leave; and, they know it. We might have to sue all the makers of
such boxes and sets until they listen. Maybe a class action suit would be
the thing since it would be prohibitively expensive to sue each one
infividually. That's how we forced AOL to listen to us. Maybe if they
won't pay attention to our resolution or requests from individual blind
customers, they'll pay attention to the courts. Then again, maybe not even
that.
Very Skeptically and Sincerely yours,
The Constantly Barefooted,
Ray

Hello Harold and all,

Harold, I wasn't aware that DVS is not available on high definition tv.

I assume this is being worked on, as we have to convert in the next couple
of years, I think.

I already have an HD tv and cable box, but I don't have hd service, as it is
extra. I feel like it is silly to pay for the same channels twice.

I will just wait until highdef is required.

Thanks for the information.

Liz
