[nfb-talk] Hassles With Taxi Access:

Ken;
Have you checked to see if your job has a carpool service or a shuddle
bus that might help you. Are there any drivers that live in your area
that you could carpool with and help with the gass. You might be able
to find someone since it will just be temporary. Check your admin
office, send an e-mail or even ask your sighted friends. There must be
some sighted people at Bism. I had a related problem with Metro Access
in Montgomery County. My first form I dropped off at the doctor and he
never sent it in. then I got a second copy and discovered there was a
part for me to fill out. I got that filled in, rushed it to the doctor
and put ergent on the envelope. He took a month to fill it out. I had
to get two or three extentions during all this mess. Doctors sure can
be lazy!
Good luck both of you. Don't be afraid to ask for assistance,
especially if it will save your job.

Terry Powers

Carol and I did fill out an application and had it Faxed to the Doctor
because the ones that Kathy sent in, never reached the doctor.
Carol and I just got our certifications letters from MTA in the mail
today,
and next Tuesday Carol and I will make our appointments, and just may be
we
can speed up the process in getting our Taxi Access.
As for me, I don't mind paying a large cab bill to get to work, since
this
is very important.
I did this once in awhile in Denver, Colorado when the bus system was on

Strike in 1982.
I have made arrangements with mobility to go to BISM starting next
Tuesday.
All I can do, is hope for the best.
